FAQ

Do I have to BMOP?
Yes, you have to bring your own Pi.

Do I have to BMODAC?
Yes, you have to bring your own DAC.

Is my DAC compatible?
Please refer to the documentation of your DAC. If GPIOs 4, 12, 13, 14, 23, 24, 26 are NOT used, it is compatible.

GPIO 14 and 26 are for on/off (the orange button). 4, 23, 24 are the three black buttons (can be assigned. Standard is play/pause, volume down, volume up). 12 and 13 are for the fan (PWM signal and RPM readout)

Which GPIOs are used by LEELOO?
GPIO: FUNCTION
12:
FAN PWM SIGNAL
13 FAN RPM READOUT
14: BUTTON 1, POWER ON/SHUT DOWN
4: BUTTON 2, PLAY/PAUSE
23: BUTTON 3, VOLUME DOWN
24: BUTTON 4, VOLUME UP
26: POWER OFF SIGNAL

Examples of compatible DACs
/// This list is not meant to be complete. Not all DACs were tested and are guaranteed to work (they should, but as always, Murphy). Please cross-check with the documentation of your DAC about which GPIOs it uses ///

Does the power circuit power off the Pi completely, not only standby?
Yes.

How do the buttons feel?
The buttons are carefully designed to provide a pleasant feedback. There is no rattling.

Why leeloo?
Leeloo is the name of the heroine in the movie The Fifth Element. The fifth element is the key to unlock the other four.

The Pi is not included, yes?
Yes, the Pi is not included.

Is it difficult to set-up to work with VOLUMIO OS?
Yes it is, but you can find step-by-step instructions on our website. For the technically inclined, this is difficult, but fun. You can also choose to purchase a SD card with VOLUMIO OS and the necessary configurations already set up.

Do updates of the VOLUMIO OS break the configurations?
Great question! And wonderful to say, that no, so far the early prototypes have had over 20 updates, and not once did an update break a configuration. A big shoutout to the VOLUMIO team!

What are these configurations?
They are so that the power circuit, the buttons, and the temperature-controlled fan work like a breeze.

Can other images be put on the Pi, e.g. RPI OS?
Yes, power circuit, buttons, and fan control work with RPI OS, too. For example, you can configure the buttons to be space and arrow up and arrow down. And the sound output can be set in RPI OS to go to the DAC, too.

Does the power circuit, buttons, and fan control work with other Pi images, e.g. media center?
For media center PLEX, Jellyfin, LibreELEC, or OSMC/Kodi, in principle it SHOULD work, too. We had tested some and it worked, but for others it was too tricky to set up and therefore we don't provide instructions as of now. Over time, instructions for media center images that work will be put on the website, too. In any case, the power circuit works, which alone is useful to have in any Pi setup.

How about retro gaming on the Pi, can the case be used for this, too?
Yes, the power circuit is usually easy to configure, the buttons and fan-control, not so. The buttons are not required for such a set-up. The fan without control script will run at 100%, which is good for gaming. So, you are good. It is a bit of a bssssshhhhh sound with the fan running at this speed but it is not too loud or bothering.
